Spooktacular Pumpkin Extravaganza!October 24, 2020
Bring a carved or painted pumpkin for judging/prizes!
We are very excited to be able to host a socially-distanced Halloween-themed event for families in our community, with support from Century 21 Martin & Assoc Real Estate.
Please register at email@example.com by October 9th. Send your name, age and contact information. Your pumpkin will be assigned a number upon registration. Need a pumpkin? Let us know when you register. Pick up a free pumpkin Tuesday October 13th, 2-4pm or Saturday 17th, 10am-12pm.
All pumpkins must be completed at home and brought to library by 10am on Saturday October 24. Face masks and social distancing required. Judging will take place at 11am and prizes awarded for “BEST IN SHOW” plus in each age group for: * Funniest * Scariest * Most Creative
The pumpkins will be photographed as a group and published on the Friends’ website. Winners can be photographed with consent. After the contest and photo shoot, you can take your pumpkin home, or we will compost them for you.
1) Be creative. Paint or carve your design! There will be four age divisions: <5 yrs, 6-10 yrs, 11-17 yrs, and 18+ years. Categories for each age group will include: (a) scariest (b) funniest © most creative. 2) Prizes awarded for every age group in the (3) categories above plus “Best in Show”. 3) Bring your pumpkin on Saturday October 24th by 10 am. Judges will announce winners and prizes awarded at 12pm. 4) Pumpkins will be photographed as a group and published on the Friends website; winners will be photographed with permission. 5) Pumpkins cannot be left behind. If so they will be composted. 6) Face masks and social distancing required. Event is outdoors, rain or shine.
Grading of Entries
The panel of judges will grade each entry based on the following rubric. Grades will be calculated among all judges to determine winners.

Judges are using the following criteria to grade your entry. Please carefully consider the following when crafting your submission with your group:

(2 points)“Okay, I see where they were going with that.”
(1 point) “What?”“I don’t get it!”
Craftsmanship & Quality:
(4 points) The pumpkin is exceptionally attractive, well-constructed and very organized.
(3 points) The pumpkin is attractive, has good construction and well-organized.
(2 points) The pumpkin is acceptably attractive though it may be a bit messy.
(1 point) The pumpkin is distractingly messy and/or the craftsmanship and skills are poor.
(4 points) Exceptional use of new ideas and originality of pumpkin design.
(3 points) Good use of new ideas and originality of pumpkin design.
(2 points) Average use of new ideas and originality of pumpkin design.
(1 point) No use of new ideas and originality of pumpkin design.
